Surf City Sunshine in Shades of Yellow & Green
Huntington Beach, CA–A sea of yellow like a blast of sunshine stood at the stoplight at Pacific Coast Highway and Main Street just a day before the launch of the US Open of Surfing in downtown Surf City. Cool and slightly overcast weather greeted sunbathers and surfers dressed in shades of the sun, as they packed the beaches beginning around noon. On the Huntington City Beach south of the HB Pier cranes and trucks moved madly to get the US Open of Surfing village set up before the launch of the event tomorrow, July 31, 2010.
You’ll see hundreds of people crossing Coast Highway from free parking spots they find in neighborhoods in downtown HB. Stopped as the light turned from green to yellow at PCH & Main, the colors of clothing that passed by included lots of black, white, yellow and green. The clothes that also matched the Jamba Juice sign on Main Street replaced the missing sunshine that tried so hard to break through the overcast skies.
Weather predictions for the US Open of Surfing that runs till Aug. 8 include pleasant temperatures and more of the same–gray skies giving way to sunshine by mid-morning or afternoon. Today the temps ranged from 69 to 74 degrees and the water temperature was around 64 degrees at Orange County beaches.
