City Employees Staying Busy with City-Sponsored Events in Huntington Beach

surf contestHuntington Beach, Calif.–Just because summer is nearly ending and the kids are returning to school, it doesn’t mean city employees in Surf City are getting a break. Those involved in community outreach have a full plate in September 2010. Here are several events the City of Huntington Beach is either sponsoring or participating in:

Senior Saturday on September 11, 2010 – Held at Pier Plaza, the event is hosted by the Council On Aging, a non-profit organization that supports programs and services for Huntington Beach seniors through the Michael E. Rodgers Senior Center and Huntington Beach Senior Outreach. The public is invited to attend the fair, watch live entertainment, buy affordable meals, and get products & info from vendor booths.

Green Expo on Saturday, September 18, 2010 is sponsored by the City of Huntington Beach and will be held at Pier Plaza. It features over 80 vendor booths with products and information about being or going green. Time: 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

City Summer Surf Contest is held on September 18 – 19, 2010 near the Huntington Beach Pier. This annual event is open to residents who surf. The event sign-up is closed now, but you can watch.

Disaster Preparedness Seminar on Saturday, September 25 from 9 a.m. to Noon at City Council Chambers (2000 Main St.) invites the public to be informed about what you will need to care for yourself and your family in a disaster. Walk-ins are welcome.

This is by no means all the city has going on. But for those who need a breather after summer and wish to relax, you may have to wait till winter. There’s always something happening in Huntington Beach!
