Huntington Beach BBJAZZ Festival 2010 on Sept. 11
Huntington Beach, Calif.–Huntington Beach BBJAZZ 2010 Festival is taking bold new steps to capture a very unique, affluent demographic and is providing a line-up different from its past. If you want to see what an old-style BBJAZZ Festival is like, you should have attended the recent Long Beach Jazz Festival at Rainbow Lagoon. It could easily be mistaken for one of BBJAZZ’s past events. Headliners in Huntington Beach include Maysa with new release, A Woman in Love (maysa.com)
At the August 2010 Long Beach Jazz Festival headliner acts included Dave Koz, Jonathan Butler, Boney James, The Original Jazz Crusaders, Al Jarreau, Poncho Sanchez, and numerous acts previously appearing in the Huntington Beach Central Park concert held each year in September.
Huntington Beach BBJAZZ Concert in Central Park has raised the VIP seating and dinner rate from the low $100′s to over $200/person now, and the line-up of artists is quite different from any concert offered in Orange County or the surrounding area.
Acts in 2010 include Mahndo, Maysa, the Tony Rich Project, Joey Sommerville, Eric Essix, BK Jackson, Art Sherrod, Jr., Andre Delano, Bob Baldwin, Walter Beasley, and many more.
For those unfamiliar with these artist names such as “Maysa” or Maysa Leak, she has enjoyed many hits and great success, performing with artists such as Stevie Wonder and single on the hit single “Don’t You Worry ‘Bout A Thing.” Maysa performed with Stevie Wonder’s female backup group Wonderlove, but moved onto London in 1992 to perform with British jazz band Incognito. Maysa began recording solo albums in 1995. Metamorphosis was No.1 on Billboard’s Top Contemporary Jazz top 100 chart and no.13 on Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums. In 2010, “A Woman in Love”, Maysa’s 7th solo CD made its debut at No.1 on the Contemporary Jazz Charts. Her sultry, rich voice is not to be missed.
General audience seating for BBJAZZ Festival is $45. The location is a sloped hill with shade and sunny spots, but no chairs. You must bring your own. A fence divides the cheapest seating from the VIP where chairs are provided, and tables for the top VIP package. Event Location: 7111 Talbert Ave., Huntington Beach, CA. Tickets: bbjazz.com. A large portion of proceeds from this event help fund special programs for autism, and other causes.
