Lindsey DuFresne of Hope View School Wins “My Favorite Teacher” Award

HUNTINGTON BEACH, CALIF.– The local winner of the Barnes & Noble My Favorite Teacher Contest, was chosen from 45 entries at the Barnes & Noble in Huntington Beach. Student Emily Tucker nominated Lindsey DuFresne, and her entry ws selected for its compelling nature describing the teacher’s qualities, and displaying the student’s appreciation and the quality of expression and writing.

DuFresne will be recognized at an event at the Barnes & Noble in Huntington Beach on Thursday, April 14, 2011 at 4 p.m. She will receive a set of ten Sterling Children’s Classics books for her personal or classroom library, and additional recognition and praise from the community. Emily Tucker, who wrote the winning essay, will receive a certificate of recognition and will be honored at the same ceremony.

DuFresne now enters a regional competition where six winners will be chosen. Each regional winner will receive a NOOK Color™ eBook Reader and a $500 Barnes & Noble Gift Card. From the pool of six regional winners, Barnes & Noble names one teacher the “Barnes & Noble National Teacher of the Year”. The winning teacher will receive $5,000 and the title of “My Favorite Teacher.”

The Barnes & Noble My Favorite Teacher program provides students with the opportunity to tell their communities how much they appreciate their teachers. Teachers from Kindergarten through Grade 12 were eligible for nomination.
