Arts & Culture Meet Terra Cotta Warrior in Surf City Sept. 22

terra cotta warriorPictured is the authentic Terra Cotta Warrior which was exhibited in Santa Ana at Bowers Museum during the summer 2008.  Terra Cotta Warriors: Guardians of China’s First Emperor, included 20 complete life-sized figures, the most ever to have left China, in a 120-object touring archive of rare artifacts over 2200 years old. Many believe it is the most significant archaeological discovery of the past century.

Huntington Beach, CALIF.–If you envision surfers hanging 10 on perfect waves, you may be in the wrong place when you head for Surf City’s Terra Cotta Warrior Dedication at the Huntington Beach Public Library “Autumn Festival”. Recently dedicated to the library system by HB Chamber of Commerce, the replica of rare ancient warrior statues unearthed in China and now on tour in cities such as San Jose, Calif. and Santa Ana, this is as good as it gets for HB arts & culture. Central Library is actually a showpiece for the famed architect father/son team named Neutra, and there are several pieces of art scattered around the property and inside the building.

A ceremony & celebration at the Central Library on Sept. 22 concludes with a Lion Dance by Ane Thanh. Time: 4 p.m. Cost: Free admission. Location: 7111 Talbert Ave., Huntington Beach, CA.
