$2.80 Burger & Fries to Celebrate Ruby’s Birthday

RubysIf you are among the burger fans who enjoy eating Ruby’s hamburgers and crispy french fries to the backdrop of the Pacific Blue, you can enjoy a hot meal at an affordable price on piers in Seal Beach, Huntington Beach, Oceanside, Newport Beach and Malibu. They are but several of over 50 themed U.S. diners with red vinyl booths and delicious American food under the Ruby’s flagship. On July 26, 2010 Ruby’s celebrated its second year of paying homage to the lady this fabulous chain was named for, Ruby. Normally you’d pay around $9-10 for a hamburger and fries plate with an ocean view, but on this special day, we paid $2.80.

Seal Beach General Manager Art Haack, Cassidy Watts, and Katrina Stebbins all work to make customers happy on the Seal Beach Pier diner for Ruby’s birthday celebration.

“It’s been a steady steam of traffic all day, ” said Art Haack, general manager of the Seal Beach Pier restaurant. “We’ll end up serving over 1,000 people before the day is through.”

On our dinner-time stroll we stopped and put our names on the list, just on whim. How can you pass up a $2.80 meal? The wait was around 20 minutes, but well worth it. The burgers were cooked to perfection (medium well) and though they normally come with thousand island and mayonnaise, I by-passed that for ketchup and mustard which I squeezed onto the bed of cold lettuce, and slice of tomato sitting on top of the patty. The sesame bun was sweet, the meal complete, and I wish you a happy birthday, dear Ruby! Thanks for the memories!  Ruby’s on the Seal Beach Pier is located at 900-A Ocean Ave., Call: (562) 431-7829.
