New HB Farmers Market is a Hit with Kids

The inaugural launch on April 16  of Local Harvest Certified Farmers Market at Peter’s Landing in Huntington Beach was a smashing success– especially with kids. Pony rides, petting zoo and inflatables greeted children who came with parents and grandparents on a sunny, record-breaking weather day (91 degrees in L.A.!) to shop, eat and play.

Launched by Lee Ostendorf who formerly operated the Surf City Nights market on Main Street in Downtown Huntington Beach and now runs six farmers markets in Southern California, the event featured some of Lee’s favorite farmers / vendors, restaurants and entertainment. Among the specialties were breads from Port Hueneme, fresh cut flowers from Oxnard, fresh honey from tree blossoms of local deserts and fields in Southern California, strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, lemons, oranges, tangerines, apples, brocolli, potatoes, avocados, onions and more.

The event will be held each Saturday throughout the year at Peter’s Landing parking lot on Pacific Coast Highway across the street from Sunset Beach. Hours are 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. If you are a vendor seeking to sell items at this market, call (562) 449-9299.
