Pacific Vibrations Classic Surf Film Premier Aug.1 at HB Pier

Pacific Huntington Beach, Calif.–One of the great lost classics, the 1970 film “Pacific Vibrations”, has been digitally re-mastered in high definition (HD) and will be shown in a free movie night at the U.S. Open of Surfing on Sunday, Aug. 1, 2010 at 7:30 p.m. Head for the Huntington Beach Pier and look for the crowd gathered to see a wild ride with music that a new generation will grab onto, and the old-timers such as Corky Carroll who’s featured in the film, will remember well. Referred to as Woodstock on a wave, Pacific Vibrations is a colorful documentary by John Severson, Hall-of-Fame Surfer, filmmaker, artist and founder of Surfer Magazine. From California to Hawaii, surfing legends Severson, Bill Hamilton and Corky Carroll continue their endless search for the perfect wave. The surfers reveal their motivation and obsession with the sport to soundtrack of pure rock legends. The World HD Premiere screening will take place at the Huntington Beach Pier located at 315 Pacific Coast Highway. Leading off the evening will be a special Q&A on the making of the film with Pacific Vibrations star and legendary surfer Bill Hamilton.

The event is free, open to the public and will include complementary snacks, raffles, giveaways and more. Doors open at 7:30 pm. If surf fans can’t make it to the premiere, they can still catch the world HD television premiere of Pacific Vibrations on Saturday, August 7th at 10pm ET/7pm PT on MGM HD, as part of the channel’s month-long “MGM HD Drive-In” summer series.
