Many people couldn’t contain their enthusiasm at the recent grand opening of Denny’s Restaurant in Seal Beach, near the intersection of Seal Beach and Westminster Boulevards. Even Mayor Mike Levitt was excited, not only for what the tasty eatery brings to his city in terms of delicious food and tax revenue but because its within walking distance for him. “My wife and I like to eat out on the weekend and we were delighted with the food quality and service during a Denny’s breakfast. For just opening, it was beyond what I expected,” said the city leader. “Since man cannot live on eggs alone, next time I’m going to try a dinner. This is definitely a restaurant Seal Beach is very proud to add to its list of fine eateries.”

The packed diner has some healthy twists, such as creating your own pancake breakfast by selecting fresh strawberries, banana slices or blueberries instead of chocolate chips or dried bacon. They have Cranberry Apple Chicken Salad and even Veggie Burgers, made from organic grains and vegetables with protein-rich soy. Special menu indicators give easy-to-see information about things like Lean, Fiber, Light and Protein. One of the things that’s really nice for people 55+ is their own special menu on the menu’s back page that features a lot of tasty things, like Senior Fit Fare Grilled Chicken, Senior Fit Fare Omelette, and Senior Soup and Salad–all at affordable prices.

The well-known American restaurant chain that began in 1953, decided to open their newest restaurant at 2940 Westminster Blvd., Seal Beach because of the great location near the 405 and 22 Freeways, Boeing, Leisure World, Seal Beach Naval Weapons Station, the SB Post Office and they are even on one of the main entrances to Long Beach. Owner Roland Spongberg said he has had his eyes on this location since 2008 and he has done extensive renovation to the property, including adding a patio. “I’m so happy with the friendly community that’s welcomed us with open arms,” said the man, who has owned 67 restaurants in his career. He had a clown, who made wonderful animal balloons, and a Petting Zoo at the opening. I attended the event and couldn’t believe how wonderful the chicken noodle soup was. Others I interviewed loved the hamburger and Hickory Grilled Chicken Sandwich. Denny’s is especially known for their Breakfast Slams. Not only was their food fresh and tasty but their service is excellent.

“We’re also open 24 hours for company graveyard shifts and people looking for a good place to eat in the late evening and early morning hours,” said General Manager Maria Esquer, who has worked for Denny’s in California and Arizona for19 years. “We enjoy offering a great menu with affordable prices,” said Abe Imrani, Director of Operations. New customer Nancy Frizelle, who was eating with three of her Leisure World friends, couldn’t be happier. “The things I love about Denny’s is that you know exactly what you’re getting–good food and good service. We’re going to be meeting hear every week” If you have any questions or would like to place an order, please call: (562) 493-1490.
