Surf City Celebs Chimene (Diaz) & Robby Armstrong Giving Back

Robby & ChimeneTwo of HB’s finest promoters of worthy causes are Huntington Harbour couple, Chimene & Robby Armstrong. Robby is known for his musical talents and band that recently performed to over 1,000 people at the Seal Beach Summer Concert series. On the sideline was his wife Chimene (sister of one of the highest paid actresses ever, Cameron Diaz) and the Armstrong kids.

The couple has plenty on their plate with a young family and careers of their own, but their concern for others always has them pitching in to raise money for special causes. One near & dear to Chimene’s heart is “Children Today”, a Long Beach non-profit organization that feeds homeless children and provides special, early learning opportunities for disadvantaged youth. In a fundraiser for that group, the Robby Armstrong Band threw a concert that helped raise the most money ever for the organization!

Often mistaken for her famous actress sister, beautiful Chimene was on hand at the recent Seal Beach concert featuring Robby Armstrong Band. Performing original songs and crowd favorites such as Rolling Stones “Miss You”, the blues & rock group included an incredible list of talented performers–Robby Armstrong, lead vocal & guitar; Bjorn Englen, bass; Jeremy Long keyboards, guitar; Paul Wilson, drums; Matt Brislawn, fiddle; and Eric Von Herzen, harmonica (formerly with Walter Trout band, and now Mississipi Mudsharks.)

When legendary Musician Robby Armstrong and his band rocked the crowd at Eisenhower Park in Seal Beach on a cool Wednesday evening in July 2010, more than 1,000 people sang, danced, and clapped to the music and musicians performing on a stage. The Pacific Ocean and Seal Beach Pier provided an amazingĀ  backdrop to this popular free concert series.

If you haven’t heard Robby and his band play, you need to. Go to You can purchase his CD releases such as our favorite, Surfside. You can also see Robby Armstrong perform live in clubs throughout Southern California. You’ll find the information on his myspace site.
